The simplest definition of the word Reiki is: (rei) universal or spiritual (ki) life force energy. Reiki is a gentle, yet profound, non-invasive therapy that works well with other complementary therapies and orthodox medicine.

Usui Reiki - Traditional Usui Reiki flows through the practitioners hands placed upon different areas of the body working on the etheric energy levels to bring balance as a whole; physically, emotionally and/or spiritually. Reiki is a hands on/off form of energy healing which may benefit those with anxiety, stress, and pain who prefer a treatment where they are fully clothed, either lying down or in a chair.

Angelic Reiki - Hands on and off the recipient’s body are used to guide this powerful healing modality that works with the highest energies of the angelic realm. Working to bring balance on all levels to those receiving the healing energy treating the body, mind, emotions and spirit whilst creating a sense of relaxation.

Kundalini Reiki - This is quite different to traditional Usui reiki. Combining the universal energy and the Kundalini, the energy of creation, this aims to work at a deeper level.

I have had three main careers in my life, all of which have intertwined over the years. The first, was as a marine ecologist, principally working for the British Antarctic Survey. There, over 15 years, I worked my way up from lab assistant to do a PhD. I was involved in international projects where I was the principal scientist on the research vessel RRS James Clark Ross and also taught abroad in South America. In 2018 I helped set up the plankton research team on St Helena, and found myself swimming with a whale shark on my 50th birthday. 12 years ago we moved up to Cumbria from Cambridgeshire, where I focused more on ‘the good life’. I expanded my smallholding to include more beekeeping, pigs, and dairy sheep, and started to build my dairy skills, teaching cheese making as a local ‘quirky workshop’. I worked as a shepherdess on a neighbours farm, helping a lot of ewes deliver their lambs, and although didn’t realise it at the time, was really honing my palpation skills as a massage therapist, which would follow shortly. In 2014 I took part in what was advertised as the ‘worlds hardest half iron triathlon’ - In and around Wast Water, Hardknot pass and Scafell Pike. As part of the training I had a sports massage, and that was it, I knew what I wanted to do next – train as a massage therapist. Six years on I love my new career, especially working with Fascia. I am a course junky, always looking to improve on my range of techniques to help as many people as possible out of pain, limited range of movement. or cope with day to day stress and anxiety. I have trained as a yoga teacher (my originally yoga teacher I am sure will be looking down and saying ‘At Last’, as she was encouraging me to train over 20 years ago now). I’ve focused on Yin Yoga which complements the massage beautifully. Over lock-down I have spent my time learning online, doing courses on aromatherapy, herbal medicine and currently working on training to teach specific massage for the face and jaw, which actually effects the entire body, both physically and mentally. I love working with people and helping them to help themselves to finding more freedom and peace in their bodies. I’m always happy to discuss an issue with you before you commit to a treatment. Currently we are offering online help, which is surprisingly effective, but will let you know as soon as we are able to do hands on work again.
